A homelab operator shares practical field notes on self-hosting: safely upgrading a NetBird server, taking consistent SQLite backups with verification, splitting Docker containers into isolated network tiers, and pricing always-on server load at the marginal electricity rate. The posts are concrete, with commands, configuration reasoning and worked numbers.
Noted reviews self-hosted and open-source software for homelabs, with each issue walking through a specific tool, how it works, and how to deploy it. Readers get practical setup guidance, design trade-offs, and an honest look at the maintenance burden that comes with running your own services.
